November 14: Friends of Lemoine Point AGM

Members of the public are invited to join the Friends of Lemoine Point for the organization’s Annual General Meeting (AGM) at the Ongwanada Centre, located at 191 Portsmouth Ave. in Kingston. The meeting starts at 7:30 p.m. and will feature a report on the activities of the group as well as special presentations. The Friends of Lemoine Point is a local community-based group of volunteers that helps to conserve and enhance Lemoine Point Conservation Area as a forested, waterfront landscape located within the City of Kingston. The Friends undertake programs and activities to protect and enhance Lemoine Point’s natural environment; promote public awareness and enjoyment of Lemoine Point Conservation Area as a place of nature and advise and work with the Cataraqui Region Conservation Authority (CRCA) on the preservation and enhancement of Lemoine Point. November 18: CRCA Migratory and Upland Game Birds I.D. Clinic

If you’ve ever wanted to learn all about game birds in Ontario, you won’t want to miss the CRCA Migratory & Upland Game Bird Identification Clinic at 1 p.m. at the Outdoor Centre at the Little Cataraqui Creek Conservation Area. Join Bruce Stratton, a retired Ministry of Natural Resources Conservation Officer, to learn how do identify migratory ducks and their calls, dive into the biology of the ruffled grouse, spruce grouse and pheasant, and also find out details about the reintroduction of the wild turkey in Ontario. The presentation is suitable for older children and adults. Entry fees are: $5.50 per person for adults and children over 12, and $3 per person for children 12 and under, to a maximum fee of $14 per car.
